Our WISE Greater Orlando Member of the Month is Kyle Sturley, Senior Director of Marketing, Communications & Special Events for the Greater Orlando Sports Commission. Kyle loves being part of WISE Greater Orlando because it is a great opportunity to get to know women in our local sports industry on a personal and professional level, and she also enjoys the development opportunities provided by the WISE Greater Orlando Chapter.   • Why I decided to be a board member/committee member of WISE Greater Orlando…
    •  I wish that a local organization like WISE had existed in my area when I was beginning my career. It brings me joy to be able to contribute to the success of an organization that provides such a great value to our members, no matter where they are on their career path. 
  • The most rewarding aspect at your current role…
    • The thing I love most about working for the sports commission is that every day is different, and every event we bring to Orlando has a positive impact on our community. I enjoy the fast pace and consistent challenges I work through to ensure our events are successful. And I can’t wait to host March Madness again in 2023!

  • Best career advice I have received…
    • Growth happens outside of your comfort zone. 

 

  • Best memory I’ve created in the past year…
    • 2021 was a mixed bag of memories for me after being diagnosed with breast cancer in the spring, but after the initial diagnosis, nearly every piece of news I got was the best-case scenario. I think one of my happiest memories from last year was attending an outdoor concert in Tampa over the summer, in between two of my surgeries. It seems like such a small thing, but between simply being happy that live music was back as more bands were starting to tour again, and having a night that felt normal after months of focusing only on my health, it’s something I look back on with a lot of gratitude now. 

 

  • In my free time, I’m…
    • Attending a concert, traveling, or having a cocktail with friends on a patio while planning our next trip… I currently have my sights set on Banff National Park in Canada for my 40th birthday later this year. 

 

  • I’m inspired by…
    • My colleagues at the Greater Orlando Sports Commission – our team is the epitome of “small but mighty” and I’m consistently amazed at all that we accomplish.
